CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA -
Installation of Eight General Electric 10-Megawatt Combustion Turbine Generation Units
Project Review Main Page

From April 2001 to January 2002, Johnson-Peltier Electrical with the help of several subcontractors, installed eight (8) General Electric 10-Megawatt Combustion Turbine Generation Units, for the City of Colton.  Black and Veatch engineered and managed the overall project for General Electric and the City of Colton.  The turbines were installed at two sites in the City of Colton, California simultaneously, four (4) at the Drews site and four (4) at the Century site.  The following is a list of equipment installed during construction.

Drews Site

1-     (4) General Electric 10-Megawatt Combustion Turbine Generation Units including all
associated electrical and instrumentation for the Turbine, Generator, lube oil, air intake, and
            all other associated systems.

2-     All Fiber Optic, Ethernet and Category 5 communications systems.

3-     Electrical control enclosure, housing (4) Turbine control panels, (4) 480VAC Motor control centers,
(1) DC motor control panel, 24VDC Battery system, 125VDC Battery system, and Balance of Plant Computer.

4-     15KV Generator Switch-Gear.

5-     TRENWA concrete trench system between the Generators, 15KV Switchgear, and the existing substation control room incorporating a “rock dust” medium for heat dissipation

6-     15KV cable between the generators, 15KV Switchgear, and the existing substation Switchgear.

7-     (2) 15KV / 480V auxiliary transformers.

8-     (1) 15KV metering section.

9-     (1) Fuel gas compression unit with twin 480V 400hp compressors including all electrical and instrumentation.

10- (2) Instrument air Compressors including all electrical and instrumentation.

11- (1) Ammonia storage tank including associated electrical, instrumentation and mechanical piping.

12- (4) Ammonia vaporization skids including associated electrical, instrumentation and mechanical piping.

13- (4) Quench air skids including associated electrical, instrumentation and mechanical piping.

14- (4) CEMS emissions sampling units including all electrical, instrumentation and mechanical piping.

15- Installation of the SCR stacks and all associated electrical, instrumentation and mechanical piping.

16- Civil work for all equipment was subcontracted by Johnson-Peltier and supervised by Johnson-Peltier

17- SCR stack erection and Catalyst installation was subcontracted by Johnson-Peltier and supervised by Johnson-Peltier.
